We all know very well how leaving fewer apps on and changing display settings can improve battery backup. But one tends to ignore general battery care when using your mobile. I myself have suffered from this account and had to spend money replacing it. Here are simple but necessary precautions to avoid damage to your battery:
1. Never charge your battery in the backup inverter! The inverter power supply is essentially incompatible with the normal sine wave power supply in our homes. Certain mobiles, like the Motorola, even give an “invalid battery” error if you try to charge it with an inverter. This is a safe method to permanently damage the battery!
2. Do not recharge it frequently: try not to recharge the battery until it is completely (or almost) discharged. Most of us are in the habit of charging our phones as soon as we see that the battery is half discharged. Unless you are going to be away for a long time and may need a full backup, avoid recharging the battery until it is 80% depleted. Frequent recharging shortens the life of the battery.
3. Avoid use while charging: do not use the mobile phone while it is charging unless absolutely essential. In such a case, be sure to turn off the switch first, then unplug the charger and only then start using the phone. Never unplug the mobile without turning off the AC power switch.
Following these tips, I have used my phone for almost 2 years with a battery backup as good as the first day. Try this and see the change for yourself 🙂
