Sesame Street is a favorite in our home as it is in millions of others. Still running after decades on public television, this classic show was and continues to work to educate your children while entertaining them with interesting puppet characters. If the buzz of recent years about Tickle Me Elmo dolls and other Sesame Street toys is any indication that this show is extremely popular with kids today. You’ll want a party menu that’s just as popular and tasty.
Cupcakes are the best gift for preschoolers, especially if the party is held at school. Use any brand of cake mix prepared according to package directions for cupcakes. A classic kid favorite is using Chocolate Cookie Crum ‘land’ and gummy candy ‘worms’ placed in chocolate frosting. Other possibilities would be to make each of the sesame street puppets in frosting on alternating cupcakes. Green icing used with the star-shaped piping tip creates a convincing Kermit. The red icing used with the tiny round tip would work great for decorating Elmo. Grover is blue and Grouch is green. The big bird is yellow. The eyes can be chocolate chips and the mouths can be made of licorice. Serve up a slow cooker of Sloppy Joes and a side of potato sticks if a house party allows enough time for a quick meal. Party punch in the favorite flavor of the guest of honor should be served.
This party menu may satisfy your child’s tummy, but only the Sesame Street show can satisfy his mind. Be sure to have several episodes on hand for your party guests to sit down and watch. Plenty of Sesame Street decorations will help liven up your living room for the party and also make cleanup quick and easy afterward. Have a great party!
