Even with a limited number of things to move, your car may be too small and you will need many trips to get all the things to another place. Launching American Truck Buyer has been something of an adventure, and while we haven’t covered even one percent of our ground yet, things are moving quickly. We have established ourselves on the Internet and are quickly becoming known in the business. With truck and trailer advertising working in the entire 50 states as our main source of income, our company is doing well. Our entire sales team is excited and they are all fighting for the top position as seller of the month. As we go out more and more, the name American Truck Buyer will grow as will the word trucks.
There are some common problems that many truckers encounter with motorists.
1. Cuckoo! – Now you see them, now you don’t. This hide and seek game is very troublesome for truckers. Large trucks have multiple blind spots that make it difficult for drivers to see other motorists who like to hang out there. The best thing to do is pass the truck or keep a comfortable distance behind it. If in doubt, check the trucker’s side view mirrors. If you can see them, chances are they can see you, too.
2. Curb this habit: Many of us at one time or another get stuck behind a big truck. So the most logical thing would be to change lanes to pass the truck. No problem with that… the problem lies with a vehicle returning to the truck lane right in front of them, then braking to turn or simply slowing down, period. What most motorists don’t realize is that truckers need a lot of space to slow down, at least two to three times the amount of passenger cars.
3. Teaching a lesson: Some passenger car drivers like to try to “teach” truckers a good lesson. Drivers often think that big trucks and trailers are going too fast or too slow. So they will speed up to pass the trucker and then return to the trucker’s lane and slow down. Many parents tell their children, “Worry about yourself,” and other motorists would be wise to heed that advice. Let the soldiers and police enforce the traffic laws.
4. Back up and try again: In today’s age of technology, people are more used to getting instant results and hate waiting for anything. Unfortunately, when big trucks have to back into a space, it can take a few tries to be successful. Motorists should appreciate the fact that these trucks are bigger than they are and let the truckers do their job. Patience can be a virtue!
By exercising a little of that common sense, many accidents involving heavy trucks and passenger vehicles could be avoided. That old adage, “Prevention is better than cure”, certainly applies here!
