How to safely use and disinfect your phone in high-traffic areas after a pandemic (these areas include: theme parks, public transportation, office buildings, etc.). You don’t have to copy the title word for word, just share an address.
Mobile phones have become an extension of our hands and arms. We use them several times a day to make phone calls, check emails, search for places, and play games. If they are not in our hands, they are close. During lunch or dinner they are placed next to our plate. When we get a cup of coffee, we leave it on the counter while we pay.
During the Covid crisis we have become incredibly conscious about frequently washing our hands and using hand sanitizers. We disinfect desks and countertops. However, how often do you clean that cell phone that has been sitting next to us?
In January 2020, ZD Net conducted a survey and found that 60% of people never clean their mobile devices. Less than 10% would probably clean it up after being sick. They repeated the survey in August of that year and now 40% said they did clean their phones.
It begs the questions how often should I clean my phone and what is the best way to do it.
Dr. David Westenberg, associate professor of biological sciences at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, reminds us that there are a number of microbes that can be harmful in addition to the coronavirus, such as bacteria and fungi.
Under normal circumstances, you should disinfect your phone, especially the touch screen and its case at least once a day. If you have allowed someone else to handle or use your phone, you need to fix it as soon as possible.
Before using any cleaning item or technique, check with the manufacturer to see what it says.
Some recommendations include:
• Soft, lint-free cloth
• Avoid the use of liquids
• Avoid spraying directly on the device
• Do not use bleach or abrasives
Another option is to use ultraviolet lighting. Glissner makes a wonderful product called The CleanPhone™. It is the perfect addition to your home or office. Simply place your phone through the top cover and in just 20 seconds, the phone will come out fully sanitized. Use 4 UV-C bulbs to complete the process.
It is a product designed to provide maximum cleaning with minimum effort. As it does not use chemicals or liquids, it is safe to use. It can handle most phones including iPhone 11 with its case, Samsung S20 with case, and older Samsung and Pixel mobile phones.
Laboratory tested, the cleaning device will remove 99.99% of all viruses and bacteria within a 20 second processing time.
Now, no matter where you’ve been, you can rest assured that your phone can be quickly and safely disinfected.
