“Happiness is a state of mind, and my mind stays in a healthy state if there is enough money in my pocket.”
Don’t worry, I just made it up. But this is still a fact for many of us, at least definitely for me.
Is there anyone reading this article who hates money? If that is the case, then this article is not the best for money haters like you. This article is for those who really want to get rich in life. When I say rich, I mean really rich. What you do with the money after you get rich is entirely up to you and is not the point of discussion in this article.
Most of us want to get rich, with a few exceptions. But then why isn’t 99% of the world’s population rich? Why could only 1% get really rich? What prevents us from achieving real wealth status? We want it, don’t we? We work hard for money, so what’s missing?
While filming my promotional video for my next book, I realized that there are some key traits that we are missing, which causes most of us to live a life of mediocrity. I’ve broken down and summarized 5 key reasons why most of us can’t get rich:
1. Being rich does not attract our attention
The fact that we have been born and raised in an environment where we have rarely seen rich people around us, makes us believe that it is a norm not to be extremely rich and that wealth is an exception for a lucky few. We never had rich friends, rich neighbors, rich colleagues at the office. So how am I supposed to be different? I’m normal. I am like most of us are. It never occurs to us that we can be truly wealthy regardless of what is around us. We can be that “exception”. We deserve to be rich.
2. We never “decided” to get rich.
I love talking about this. Many of my friends come to me and ask me to number steps 1-10, whatever it is they need to do to get rich. Well, I say: “Tell me your dream.” They are confused by my answer and reiterate their desire to tell them the steps necessary to achieve financial freedom. I have to keep reminding them that their dream is going to be their first step. If you have not yet identified a dream in your life, a single purpose in your life for which you are willing to sacrifice anything, you are not done with Step 1, and unless you are done with Step 1, all other steps They make no sense. In fact, all the subsequent steps after your dream are so common to everyone and so readily available in books and on multiple Internet sites that anyone can learn from and follow them. But your dream is something that won’t be available anywhere else. It has to be searched for and unearthed from within. A dream would be something that excites you, that unique purpose of your life that turns you on and makes you passionate about everything you do. It took me 15 years to find my own dream and life purpose, but once I found it, financial freedom was just a series of steps that took me 7 years to execute. Most of us want to skip the first step of identifying our true dream because identifying that takes time and effort. It takes a lot of time and a lot of effort. Unfortunately, there is no shortcut here.
3. We always have enough excuses
“I’m too old to fight for my dream now”, “I have a family to support and secure”, “It’s too early to talk about retirement or freedom”, “I don’t have time”, “Money is not very good to have”, ” Money can’t give you happiness”, “I’m busy”, “Happiness is a state of mind”,… and the list is endless. I just have one point to tell all my friends who have some “reason” for not getting rich: you can either make excuses or you can make money, but not both. The choice is in your hands. the choices you make every day make your destiny.
4. We don’t appreciate late tipping
Most of us understand the calculation of compound interest, but it’s very rare for anyone to really appreciate the awesome power of compounding and delayed gratification unless they’ve experienced it in life. In this fast-paced world, we all look for instant results, and if we don’t see instant results, we want to change our own goal. Well, nothing worthwhile in life can be accomplished without putting in enough time and effort. It takes time to get rich and the growth is exponential. You have to be patient in the early years when it might seem like you’d never reach the goal, and then suddenly you’d start to realize the amazing exponential power of compounding. Don’t give up on your target until the compound power unleashes its magic.
5. We are all in our comfort zone
“Well, what’s wrong with my life? Everything is fine…” a fish said to its companion, lying in the fish tank inside a house. Doesn’t sound familiar? Actually, there is nothing wrong: they are being fed on time, they are being saved from their potential enemies, they are being cared for with clean water, so why should they try anything different? Perhaps, they forgot the true meaning of life: “living” and “experiencing” life and the situations it throws at you. It’s a very similar story for most of us. We have become so used to our comfort zones that it hurts to make an extra effort to “live” life. Is it easy to get out of such a comfortable zone? Not at all. It’s worth it? Definitely yes. what is “living” life if you do not have your personal freedom in your hands.
So while most of us want to get rich, only the 1% of us who learn the skill of handling the 5 constraints above will actually get rich. It is a fact that not everyone can become rich… The rich would always be divided in the ratio of 1% to 99%.
But you can definitely decide which category you want to be in. The choice is in your hands!!
