Dippity Glass crafts is one of the popular hobbies in the 70s. It is also known as “Wire Dip Craft”, “Dip It Fantasy Film”, “Dippity Glass”, “Formafilm” and “Fun Film”. However, products for this craft are now almost nowhere to be found. In my own research on Google I found that it is hardly available, even in online stores. If you’re looking to buy one for yourself, search under the keyword “dip it fantasy movie”, you may be lucky to find one or two websites that sell the products.
Dip-it film craft is not that archaic in Malaysia although many resources recorded that the craft started in the mid 70s. It has somehow survived the test of time and to this day it is still making its way in elegant and classy weddings as decoration. The Dip-it flower is manufactured in the form of a bridal bouquet, hand bouquet, centerpiece, gift decoration and other forms of decoration. While maintaining his original old techniques of dipping a petal-shaped metal wire into the liquid plastic, other new techniques are created and incorporated to produce a variety of wondrous results.
A small community of lovers of this craft is flourishing in Malaysia albeit slowly but surely strong enough to survive the craft for years to come. Some are offering training classes that charge between fifty dollars and two hundred and fifty dollars depending on the experience of the trainer. Despite the scarce raw materials available for crafts, the demand for handmade flowers is growing more and more over time.
