If you’ve ever been shot down by someone, your self-confidence can plummet faster than a plane that’s out of control. It is possible to regain self-confidence, but you must do “inside” work. How did you attract someone who treated you badly? How do you really feel about yourself? Do you think you deserve love and respect? Asking yourself these and other questions will help you get to the “root” cause of why you would allow someone to treat you badly. Once you do the “inside” work, you can begin to regain your confidence.
How to regain self confidence after being knocked down
Write your feelings in a journal. Not facing your feelings is worse than facing them. Instead of dealing with your feelings, you can fill them with drugs, alcohol, food, gambling, food, and other addictions. Buy a couple of journals and write until you can’t write anymore. Get all your feelings out of your system. When you are ready, take a deep breath and read what you wrote. It will be cathartic and painful at the same time, but at least you will face your feelings and be able to heal yourself.
Realize that most people are insecure. Anyone who has a need to bring you or someone else down has serious self-esteem issues. Send that person who destroyed a lot of love and move on with your life. Forgive them because they didn’t know what they were doing. Forgiveness does not mean exonerating the person for treating you badly, it means that you free yourself from the person and the situation.
Do the mirror exercise. Every day look in the mirror and say, “I love you.” The more you say this, the more self-confidence will come back.
Enroll in a martial arts class. Not only will you lose weight and tone your body, but you will regain your self-confidence. Martial arts classes are great for learning discipline. You will find your inner strength and begin to honor yourself more. The more you honor yourself, the less likely someone else will knock you down. You will also learn about trust, loyalty, and honor.
Hire a counselor and life coach.. A counselor can help you analyze and get to the “root” of the problem of why someone brought you down. As a step? How confident were you as a person? When did your self-confidence decrease? How old were you? You will be asked to log in to find the answers. Most likely, you still have some problems to solve from your childhood. Most people do.
Hiring a life coach along with a counselor is a great way to move forward in your life. A counselor generally deals with the past, while a life coach deals with the present / future. They can work with you to help you regain your confidence by providing you with solid information that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Make sure you find a coach who goes beyond just giving you chores to do. This is not training, this is babysitting. You want a coach who really works with you and holds you accountable. If you don’t do the job, you won’t regain your confidence. You want a life coach who expects you to regain your confidence. They will give you the tools, but you decide if you use them or not.
Enroll in a self-assertion or self-defense class. This is a great way to learn to assert yourself and protect yourself. You will learn that dancing “in the shade” with someone is not an option. You will know how to handle someone who could potentially knock you down. You will be able to recognize signs like aggression, arrogance, passive / aggressive behavior and other signs. You will not allow people to run over you. You will show them who is the boss in your life and you will no longer attract them into your life!
Learning how to take down someone who is trying to hurt you will increase your self-confidence. It will save your life in more ways than one. You will assert yourself and you will be able to get out of danger at the same time.
Enroll in a public speaking class. Most people are terrified of speaking in public, they prefer to face death! Speaking in public is a great way to regain confidence. If you can speak to 50 or more people without losing your cool, calm, and collectivity, not only will you regain your self-confidence, but you will also have the respect of your fellow speakers.
Nobody has the right to take down another person. If you allow this to happen, it means that you do not honor or respect yourself. Find out why and get help changing it. Also, anyone taking down another person would need help! Remember that everyone is important and no one is an ‘extra’ on planet earth. Don’t let anyone mistreat you and regain your power once and for all!
