There is a festival that takes place in the Portland parish called the Bussu Festival. This event usually featured some shell creatures that can be found in the rivers in this area and are mostly used in soup. Then, there is also the Portland Jerk Festival that is also held every year in this parish. This event is very popular as it efficiently presents the popular cooking style that is jerk. Jerk is actually the method of seasoning meat with a mixture of spices and herbs before grilling it. The most important ingredients for this combination are hot scotch bonnet peppers and bell pepper, when the meat is well marinated it is grilled over a charcoal fire. You can expect a spicy, spicy, tender and juicy flavor at the end, but be careful if you can’t eat spicy foods.

Proceeds from this festival are usually given to a charity and are held each year at Manning’s Hill School in Savanna-la-mar.
Mandeville and the South Shore cannot be left out as there is an annual Fish Festival held at Little Ochi on Alligator Pond. If you are a fish lover this is your place as you can get fish and other seafood cooked in any style you can think of. In addition to food, you will get good entertainment and easy access to enjoy the beautiful beach area.
