This city is actually located in Greater Kabul. If you ask the population of all of Kabul, it would probably reach around three million.
Kandahar is also included in the list of cities in Afghanistan and is considered as the second largest city, after Kabul. In 2006, it was estimated that its population reached 324,800. Kandahar is situated on the southern side of Afghanistan, where the Arghandab River is in full view.
Another area covered by the list of cities in Afghanistan is the city of Herat. Herat has a population of 397,4456, as reported in 2006, and is located in the Hari River Valley. Herat is known for its historical buildings, such as the citadel built by Alexander the Great.
Another city in Afghanistan is the city of Mazari Sharif, which is the capital of the Balkh province. In 2006, the estimated population of Mazari Sharif was 300,600. In the center of Mazari Sharif, there is a mosque and a shrine called the Hazrat Ali Shrine. Others call it the Blue Mosque. In English, Mazari Sharif means Noble Sanctuary.
Kunduz is another city that is definitely included in the list of cities in Afghanistan. Kunduz can also be spelled as Qhunduz and is located in the northern part of the country. In 2002, the population was estimated at ninety-five thousand. Such a population number can already be considered remarkable as its population in 1979 was reported to be fifty-three thousand two hundred and fifty-one only.
