Almost all of us, at one time or another, have witnessed someone, in a leadership position, who seems to care deeply about their organization and constitutes, unlike others, who seems to prioritize their personnel/politics. daily, and/or, self-interest! What types of individuals seem to consistently reach your stakeholders most effectively? Who would you select to be your leader and why? After more than four decades of involvement in nearly every aspect of leadership, from identifying and qualifying, to training, developing, and mentoring thousands of actual and/or potential leaders, as well as serving, at various times, As a leader, I believe firmly that one cannot effectively lead unless/until one proceeds with the highest degree of genuine empathy, consistently. With that in mind, this article will briefly try to consider, examine, review and discuss the 5 needs of being able and ready to do it.

You genuinely care and want to help/serve others (make a difference, for good): Unless/until one wants to serve and represent others, and is willing to put them ahead of any personal/political agenda, and/or self-interest, one should not strive to become a leader! To do so, one must sincerely care and want to help others. He strives to make a difference, for the better! It is important to realize that empathy is very different from sympathy. While the second is to feel sorry for someone, the first is to proactively try to put yourself in their shoes and better understand and appreciate their real and perceived needs, goals, and priorities. , etc.
two. Commit to listening, more than you talk: For most people, their favorite sound is the sound of their own voice. Only when one commits to effective, consistent, and focused listening will they be able to place their emphasis, where they are able to make, on this key connection!
3. Put others first/serve and represent: How can you be a truly empathetic leader, unless you prioritize, serve, and represent your stakeholders? It should be your interests/benefits that matter the most!

5. Genuine Empathy: Make sure your empathy is genuine, rather than trying to artificially make others believe that it is, like this! Proceed, with patience, consistency and discipline, to create significant changes, to improve!
