No matter what your age, face shape or color, you should never underestimate the impact of your brows.
Eyebrows can really make or break your appearance, which affects whether or not you pass as a genetic woman.
Depending on how ‘manly’ your brows are, you may want to consult a professional to get the perfect shape. You can then try to hold the shape yourself, with regular tweezers.
Although brow shapes come and go, the basics of modeling generally remain the same. So I would like to offer you some tips to help you create the perfect eyebrows yourself.
The most flattering brow shape for most women is a long, gently round brow with a soft arch, tapering to a point at the end.
Whether your brows are rounded, straight, or heavy, you can use the following guidelines to create the perfect shape.
First, stand in front of a good mirror with lots of light. I also suggest that you prep the area with a warm, damp flannel (like you would before shaving) as this opens up the pores and helps make it a bit more comfortable. I’m not going to pretend it doesn’t hurt, it does, especially the first time! Exactly how much depends on your pain threshold; mine isn’t too big so I generally have to take it easy!
Now, try to visualize an imaginary straight line from the base of your nose to your eyebrow (you can use a pencil, if it helps). Ideally, this is where your brow should start.
Then imagine the line (or hold the pencil) slanted across the center of the eye, to the right of the pupil. This is where the bow should be.
Finally, hold the pencil so that it is aligned with the outer corner of your eye. This is where your forehead should end.
To make it a bit easier, you can use a white eyeliner pencil to mark the relevant points and highlight the hairs that you want to remove.
Clean off all excess hair, working from below the brow to level and clean the line. If your natural brow stops before the outer corner, simply use a sharp brow pencil to draw a thin, delicate line.
To raise the arch of the brow a little higher, pinch the hairs just below the point where you want the arch to be highest.
Once your brows reach a certain length, they begin to lose their pigmentation at the tips. If you have naturally long or bushy brows, try to keep them nice and trimmed to ensure they stay neat and to avoid undue attention. Using small manicure scissors, comb your brows upward and trim off any excess that goes beyond your natural hairline. Then comb them and do the same.
Finally, to ensure you get a great result every time, make sure you have the right tools for the job. A good set of tweezers is a must.
