Recently, I came across this unique exercise using a kettlebell. Scott Sonnon, who is involved with the Tacfit Commando system, introduced this new kettlebell exercise that works. Their training methodology is definitely cutting edge with the focus on quality, not quantity. He is definitely an “out of the box” thinker and practitioner of physical fitness.
A kettlebell is a cannonball with handles. It is a great tool. But, it depends on how you use the kettlebell. The tools are only as effective as the user of that tool. A kettlebell in the hands of a hobbyist is like a treadmill used to dry clothes rather than an exercise tool. A kettlebell in the hands of an expert is like an Olympic workout with the best tools and techniques available. You can be an expert with kettlebells by listening to and following those experts who know and practice using kettlebells as a state-of-the-art tool.
This new kettlebell exercise is called 1/2 Swingblade.
The 1/2 Swingblade is performed with a single kettlebell. This is how you do it:
* First, position your feet as if you were going to make a windmill with a kettlebell. Your feet will be tilted to the right with your left leg straight and your right leg bent.
* With the kettlebell on the floor, you hold the sides of the kettlebell with your thumbs down.
* Next, lift the kettlebell and rotate your waist / hips while lifting the kettlebell.
* Keep your balance on your middle foot.
* Keep your elbows closed as you lift the kettlebell to about the level of your head.
* Exhale as you raise the kettlebell and inhale as you lower it.
* You lower the kettlebell. This will be a repeat.
* You can repeat this process on the left side.
There is. This is a full-body exercise that has defined functional purposes. You should practice this 1/2 Swingblade and eventually master the move.
How does this benefit your body?
Its core and midsection naturally (and anatomically) resist rotations. When you do this 1/2 Swingblade, you will trim your waist and core. In addition, it will provide a functional purpose in developing its rotational movement that is beneficial for many sports and activities.
You can try this move with a silly bell. But, the unique design of the kettle bell makes the movement more effective and dynamic.
