Page Rank is an analysis that quantifies the value of a particular page within your website, the search engine algorithm has established metrics to measure a page and its value.
First, the algorithm will parse the page’s URL, metadata and title, then proceed to read the content within the page paying close attention to the use of header tags throughout the page, this is an important factor for people with Blind and visually impaired use this feature as a method to easily navigate your website.
All of the above should flow organically, for example if your written content is about a sport and your title and meta content are not relevant to the sport then they do not match and you will suffer.
Keep in mind that Google and other search engines are getting more and more sophisticated and have millions of sentences entered daily, so if your website were about the sport of soccer, the following words would be associated, ball, referee , stadium, team names, players, scores, leaderboards, accessories, etc. So even though these words don’t need to appear in the title or metadata, the search engine can associate them with your website as they know that searches in the past were done with these words attached to football.
In years past and to this day, people assume that because they link from a website with a high page rank, they will benefit from more of what is known as (link juice), this It’s just not the case, for one thing you might have a link to a site with a page rank of 5, but that site could be linking to several other sites severely diluting your juice.
Let’s take the above example and suppose we have a website about soccer, now we have got 2 links, the first one is from a small local amateur soccer club with a page rank of 1, the second link is from a website from technology that enjoys a page. range of 5.
Using the example above, many would assume that you would earn more link juice from the technology website; actually, you would earn more if you had a link from the amateur soccer club with a page rank of 1. Why? Because the amateur soccer club will have a list of keywords and content that is relevant to their website, while that the tech site won’t be.
Therefore, the ranking of the page is important, but the most important thing is the value of the link.
What is the link value? As explained above, the algorithm metric will not only look at the page rank of a website, it will seek to determine the value of the link by crawling the page that links to it.
