It really baffles me when people who work so hard for money don’t want their money to work harder. Managing money is one of the most important and most difficult things in life. We all work for money. We work day and night, sacrifice our free time and leave our loved ones and close ones and go abroad to improve our prospects. So why don’t we make our money work for us? Remember, saving and investing is not about randomly putting your money away and investing somewhere just because a friend or family member told us.
By saving and investing I mean putting your hard-earned money to good use so you can get the most out of your investments. There are many people who believe in earning and spending today. Don’t they realize they’re partying until disaster strikes? There will come a day when we will have to leave work and relax. But would we really be able to relax? Who will bear our expenses? After our retirement, income will cease while expenses will be as before. We work hard throughout our lives so that we can live a comfortable life and provide the same to our children. A large part of our income goes towards children’s education, marriage and providing them with money until they are alone. Children depend on their parents until they grow up and the situation will be just the opposite when we retire.
Do we really want the situation to be reversed? Will we feel comfortable asking our children for money? Well, no harm, but still the answer is a big NO. Also, if we factor in rising inflation, our expenses will grow by leaps and bounds when we retire. It’s better to sacrifice a little leisure now than commit later when we’re on the verge of retirement. When we are young we can face difficulties better, but as we get older we tend to weaken in all aspects, be it physical, mental or psychological. So at least in one aspect we must be very strong and it is financial and we can only achieve that if we save and invest regularly.
