The Cowardly Cheater: Cheating to make someone break up with you on purpose
You are not happy with your wife. You know you’re sick and tired of her, and you really would rather not be married to her much longer. The idea of spending the rest of their lives together, while hopeful at first, now throws them into a deep depression.
You feel suffocated, hopeless and broken. You want to break up with her, but you know it won’t be easy. She’s going to push advice. She will want to defend religious views on marriage. She will quote something like “marriage is forever” and her families will support this sentiment.
So instead of taking charge and being true to your wishes, you devise a plan to convince her to do your dirty work for you: you cheat on her. Cheating on your wife not only sends the message that you are no longer interested in being faithful to her; she gives him hope that she will take the necessary steps to end the marriage and file for divorce.
Yes, he’ll seem like a lying, cheating asshole to everyone who knows them both, but it’s the risk he’s willing to take to avoid being the one to “make trouble”, even though that’s exactly what he wants. I’ve done it by having an affair to begin with.
If you’re the cheating coward, realize that your inability to get things done doesn’t make things better for the person you’re cheating on. If your marriage has been damaged beyond any repair you wish to handle, then it’s time to accept your decision to let it go.
If you were cheated on and thus ended the marriage, accept the fact that this may have been out of your control from the moment your ex-husband felt this way. As painful as it sounds, cowardly affairs are designed to force you.
Some people are so desperately afraid of breaking up with the other person that they can’t just cut to the chase and end things, even if that’s what they really want. They are sometimes afraid to take responsibility for the pain their choice would cause, and instead resort to deception as an alternative method of communicating discontent.
