If you want more traffic to your website or blog, Craigslist is one of the best places to get free unlimited traffic to your site. You are not looking for traffic, you are looking for targeted traffic and Craigslist = quality targeted traffic.
Here I will give you some tips for posting on Craigslist and making the most of your time and efforts.
First, never post the same ad in multiple cities, this is considered cross-posting and SPAM. It might work for a while for some people, but sooner or later the Craigslist bots will stop you in your tracks. Your ads will start to get flagged and you will wonder why. Trust me.
Instead of running the same ad all over Craigslist, you can mix it up a bit by changing the title and body of each ad, while still promoting the same product or service.
You must use different IP addresses to help avoid being flagged. Craigslist knows you by your IP address (the identity of your computer). Try to change your IP address between every 10 posts.
You also want to change email accounts very frequently. Post no more than 10 ads per day to one email account. After you’ve served 10 ads or less to one email account, create another account, but don’t forget to change your IP address in between.
You can change your IP address using a proxy at proxy.org. This is vital to generating a lot of traffic through Craigslist.
No matter how much traffic Craigslist gets, if you don’t have eye-catching headlines and a short ad, you’re wasting your time.
Make your headline so that it attracts the urgency or curiosity of the reader. Here’s an example: If you sell a lawn mower, your ad might say something like this: “can your lawn mower do this?” Seeing this headline will engage the reader’s curiosity as they click on your ad to see what’s going on.
You will never know unless you try it.
