There she was after leaving Bill Buchanan’s house, sitting in a hotel bar area, having successfully eluded the police during curfew in Los Angeles, when out of nowhere it happened! A semi-drunk boss who had been sitting at her bar approached her not once but twice and wouldn’t leave her alone. So what is she supposed to do as a heroine? Instead of being teased to death, she invited the idiot to sit down and watch what she was doing.
She was in the process of using all kinds of high-tech stuff to help Jack Bauer, the intelligent super agent save the world.
That’s when Chloe O’Brien, in good manners, pulled out her stun gun and knocked the guy unconscious. Not just once, twice. Yes Chloe!! That will teach you how to pick on a single woman working on her top secret laptop at a bar. LEAVE ME ALONE!
The mega hit TV show “24” is coming to an end for this season and frankly I’m not sure how millions of fans are going to survive the “off season” but we’ll find a way, maybe.
We should all be so lucky to be prepared to survive an unwanted approach from a stranger, but then Chloe is a trained counter-terrorist agent, isn’t she? Is she not she is she just she a computer geek extraordinaire? Who knows her? But I’m sure she handled herself very well that night and in front of billions of viewers.
Seriously, one in three of us in our lifetime will have some brush with crime, whether it’s assault, rape, domestic violence, robbery, home invasion, you name it, it’s out there in a big way. Why do you think prisons are so overcrowded? It’s the food? The atmosphere?
It’s really more a question of when something unexpected will happen rather than if it will happen. It is almost a certainty. Crime statistics show that women are more likely than men to be victims.
The good news is that you can, just like Chloe, be prepared! Self defense is part of the answer. Is it unreasonable to carry some kind of defensive device: stun gun, pepper spray, whistle, or other personal alarm? Not when your life is potentially at risk. You can be prepared and survive.
